JJ McCarthy in a New York Giants cap and #9 jersey

Welcome to NY, JJ. The Giants trade for Nine after Jaxson Dart's knee injury.

The Giants sent a 2027 fifth-round pick to Minnesota for JJ McCarthy, pending a physical, per NFL.com and CBS Sports. Dart's knee injury is expected to keep him out for the rest of the regular season (NBC News). Nine is starting.

Minnesota spent the 10th overall pick on him in 2024 and traded up to do it. By this week he was third on their depth chart behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz. We said all year he'd start a game in 2026. We just had the jersey color wrong.

Good luck with Kyler Murray, Minnesota! And get well soon, Jaxson.
